Lately, there has been a lot of hype with Alice in Wonderland. It seems like there are a lot of different renditions of Alice that people are doing these days. With the new movie that is out by Tim Burton, and after the fact that I went to see the movie too, I decided that maybe I would give it a try and do a version of Alice myself.
So in this scene I drew, we have Alice in the woods with the white rabbit. She is there resting just before she heads to meet the Mad Hater, who by the way, is just plain mad. Anyway, I did a lot of different things in this picture. First thing I did differently was the inking process I used. Instead of using my favorite ink pens, I decided to use the brush with india ink. The other big thing I decided to try was to actually paint the lineart so where it would soften the picture. It was a long process I did and I think this is the longest I ever spent on a picture. I spent at least over 20 hours on the process. I do realize I need more practice in doing these techniques I’ve used here in this picture. Overall I do like this picture and I feel I will use the technique for painting my lineart again in future pictures. Just need to get more practice done with it. =)
